Rams House, That was a rollercoaster.
Down 20-10 on the road in Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Rams came storming back with 14 unanswered fourth-quarter points and walked out of Lincoln Financial Field with a 24-20 win.
The Rams are now 2-2 on the season, and honestly, this was the kind of gritty, never-say-die finish that reminds you why you love this team.
It wasn’t pretty. It definitely wasn’t easy. But they found a way.
A Slow, Frustrating Start
It was not pretty start.
The Eagles jumped out to a 20-10 halftime lead behind two Jake Elliott field goals—including one from 56 yards—and two touchdown passes from Jalen Hurts to Darius Cooper.
The Rams answered with a Harrison Mevis field goal and a 3-yard touchdown run by Puka Nacua, but Philadelphia still had the momentum going into halftime.
Matthew Stafford also threw two interceptions during the game, and Mevis missed a 48-yard field goal in the second half.
There were plenty of moments when this one looked like it might slip away.
But the Rams weren’t done.
The Comeback
Then the fourth quarter happened.
The Rams offense finally found its rhythm, and Kyren Williams took over.
Williams scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to cut Philadelphia’s lead to 20-17 with 3:59 remaining.
The Rams defense then forced another Philadelphia punt, giving Stafford and the offense another chance.
And they made it count.
With just 1:10 remaining, Williams powered his way into the end zone on a 7-yard touchdown run to put Los Angeles ahead 24-20.
Two fourth-quarter touchdowns, a 14-point comeback. And suddenly, the Rams had the lead.
Williams finished with 80 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, while adding 10 catches for 67 yards.
That’s the kind of performance you need when your team is fighting its way back into a game.
Stafford Gets It Done When It Matters
Matthew Stafford’s final numbers weren’t exactly pretty:
32-of-51 for 317 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
But this is one of those games where the final stat line doesn’t tell the whole story.
Stafford helped lead the Rams on two crucial fourth-quarter scoring drives when the team absolutely had to have them.
He made the throws when they mattered, kept the offense moving, and gave the defense a chance to finish the job.
And it was especially good to see Puka Nacua back on the field.
After missing the previous two games, Puka returned and immediately reminded everyone what he brings to this offense.
He finished with 9 receptions for 125 yards, plus that early rushing touchdown.
Not a bad way to make your return.
The Defense Slammed the Door
Here’s the part I can’t stop thinking about:
The Eagles went 0-for-12 on third down.
Zero.
Philadelphia finished with just 172 total yards and 12 first downs.
That’s an incredible defensive performance, especially considering the Eagles had a 20-10 lead and appeared to have control of the game.
One of the biggest turning points came in the fourth quarter when Philadelphia reached fourth-and-goal from the Rams’ 2-yard line.
Instead of kicking the field goal, the Eagles went for the touchdown.
Hurts’ pass to Darius Cooper fell incomplete.
Turnover on downs.
The Rams got another chance.
And they took it.
Then, on Philadelphia’s final possession, Byron Young put the game away.
Young recorded two sacks on the drive, including a strip-sack, and the Rams ultimately stopped the Eagles on fourth-and-25 to seal the win.
That’s how you finish a football game.
The Injury Factor
Philadelphia also lost star running back Saquon Barkley to a hamstring injury in the first quarter, which certainly affected the Eagles’ offensive game plan.
On the Rams’ side, wide receiver Konata Mumpfield briefly left with a shoulder injury but was able to return to the game.
The Rams also entered the game without Aaron Donald, who was ruled out with a back issue after suffering the injury against Denver.
So this wasn’t exactly a perfectly healthy Rams team walking into Philadelphia.
They found a way anyway.
Fan Takeaway
A road win in Philadelphia after trailing by 10 at halftime?
We’ll take it. Every. Single. Time.
Was it perfect?
Absolutely not.
The turnovers need to be cleaned up. The missed field goal and some of the special-teams mistakes need attention. And the Rams can’t keep putting themselves in situations where they have to manufacture fourth-quarter miracles.
But here’s what I loved about this game:
They didn’t quit.
The offense found another gear when it mattered.
Kyren Williams delivered two huge touchdowns.
Puka came back and immediately made an impact.
And the defense refused to let Philadelphia score when the game was on the line.
The Rams are back to 2-2, and now they head home for a Monday Night Football showdown with the Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium on October 12.
Matthew Stafford vs. Josh Allen.
Rams House under the lights.
After what we just watched in Philadelphia?
I’m ready.
Rams House, let’s keep this energy going. 🐏💙💛
